The Knicks hired another guard on Saturday signed as a free agent journeyman on a one-year contract, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed by SNY's Ian Begley.

Shamet, 27-year-old, has spent seven years on five different teams. With 33.8% from three-point range, he averaged 7.1 points per game for the Washington Wizards over 15.8 minutes.

Shamet scores 8.7 points per game over his career—a 38.4% three-point shooter.

Shamet fits as a seasoned depth piece; the Knicks lacked last year as the injuries piled up. He also crosses paths with Mikal Bridges, his Phoenix friend.

Looking for a good environment, Begley said the Knicks had an advantage over other suitors for Shamet.

Opening Night demands the Knicks to cut to 15 guaranteed contracts, even though they are allowed to have up to 21 players under contract in training camp.
